If you've ever wondered if the city in which you live is considered actually "dangerous," here's some definitive proof.
Grabbing some stats from the FBI's Crime in the United States I figured out the 25 most violent towns in all of Illinois.
Some of the cities on the list won't surprise you. Obviously, the bigger the city, the better the chance for violent crime.
On the other hand, there were a handful of cities with smaller amounts of people who also seem to have an issue with crime.
There were a few other things that stood out, including the inclusion of a slew of towns mostly known for their colleges and universities, which, at times, counts for a massive chunk of the population.
In case you were wondering and wanted to know exactly what is considered a "violent crime" check this out.
According to US Legal:
The definition of violent crime suggests that violence is a behavior by persons, against persons or property that intentionally threatens, attempts, or actually inflicts physical harm.
