Friday night, three Stillman Valley Cheerleaders were involved in a two vehicle accident that killed one Stillman Valley High School cheerleader and a driver of a pick-up truck.

The Rockford Register Star reports that the accident occurred around 5 p.m. at Illinois 251 and Big Mound Road in Davis Junction in Ogle County. One individual was also injured.

The names of the victims have not been released.

WIFR-TV reports that according to Investigators, the accident happened as the girls were on their way to Friday Night's football game  at  7 p.m. against Richmond-Burton.

The football game was not played and has been postponed.

The Rockford register Star also reports that

 

Rescue personnel arrived to find a pickup in flames and a car occupied by the three girls in a soybean field in the southwest corner of the intersection. Two girls were transported to Rockford hospitals by helicopter, the third was transported by ambulance.

 

Stillman Valley High School will be offering  group counseling from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the high school.
