Rockford is lucky to be home to the incredibly inspiring and beautiful Winnebago County 9/11 Emergency Responders Memorial, but a group of Rockford residents are now hoping to create a memorial dedicated specifically to our city's Police officers.

Supporters of the Police Memorial Bridge - Rockford will be attending the Rockford City Council meeting on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss officially changing the name of the Morgan Street Bridge to the Police Memorial Bridge, and the more supporters they have in attendance, the better.

The idea to rename the Morgan Street Bridge in honor of our brave men and women in blue began after the tragic loss of Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox, and the movement has full support from Officer Cox's family and friends...

Our city's finest literally put their lives on the line for us each and every day. The very least we can do to thank them for their bravery would be to attend a City Council meeting to support something that will honor them, right? Right.
