John Paul Von Arx wrote a song about his brother, who has Down syndrome, and it'll soon be presented to an international audience for World Down Syndrome day.

Another Rockford-proud moment is in the works. Country singer John Paul Von Arx is no stranger to performing — he travels the country weekly, has been voted as Rockford's favorite country act and has drawn big crowds at Country Thunder. Actually, Country Thunder is where what's about to happen first came to fruition.

Backstory: John Paul wrote a story about his brother (Sam) called "He's Different." Sam has Down syndrome. For the first time at John Paul's multiple Country Thunder performances, Sam joined him on stage for his song and many more. It was the most heartfelt moment I've ever experienced within the festival. The song and duo drew hundreds, many of whom were wiping tears from their cheeks by the end of the song.

Country Thunder is where John Paul met someone and which leads to a music video for the song, which will be played across the world during International World Down Syndrome Day. Here's where you can get involved. John Paul Von Arx, with his full band in tow, will be performing at GiGi's Playhouse's 16th birthday party at the Hoffman Estate location on Sunday, October 6th, from noon-3pm. Oh, and the event is FREE to attend.
