Cooperative relationships between local police offers and citizens is extremely important when it comes to fighting crime, and that is what the Rockford Police Department's Citizens Police Academy is all about. If you have always wanted to learn more about the Rockford Police Department, the criminal justice system, and your rights as a citizen of Rockford, then you need to submit an application today.

The academy runs each Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. September 16 through October 28, meets at the Rockford Police Department headquarters, and is free to attend. Subjects covered in this course include:

  • Organization Structure of the Rockford Police Department
  • Community Policing
  • Patrol Operations
  • States Attorney
  • Gang unit/ Criminal Law
  • City Ordinances
  • Seasonal crime/scams/ID theft
  • Neighborhood network/Watch groups
