Rockford PD Arrest Woman Who Flung Coffee on Man Protesting Clinic

The site of a proposed "family planning clinic" in Rockford was the scene of a battery on Tuesday (12/27) after a clinic protestor had an unfortunate encounter with a Rockford woman.

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers were called to the site at 611 Auburn Street around 10:10 am yesterday (Tuesday morning) for a report of a "recent battery."

When officers arrived on the scene, they were advised by witnesses that an adult female had pulled in front of the property on Auburn Street and began confronting a man about his reasons for protesting in front of the house.

The woman arrested was identified as 26-year-old Nataly Rivera of Rockford.

Rockford Police say the Rivera then "attempted to knock the man’s cell phone from his hand" before throwing a cup of coffee at him and fleeing the scene in a car.

According to the report, Rockford PD was able to arrest Rivera a short time later at her residence and she is currently being held in the county jail.

The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. -Rockford Police Department
