Rockford Park District Rolls Out First Competitive Gaming eSports League
Around the world, esports (electronic sports) is big business and it's here to stay.
Even before the coronavirus pandemic changed our involvement in everything, esports was well on its way to becoming a billion-dollar industry.
With social distancing in effect, it only makes sense that groups would look for ways to incorporate video gaming as a way to create a sense of competition.
That's why the Rockford Park District is rolling out its first-ever video gaming league.
Registration is now open for players of all ages to participate for free in 3 v 3 eSports Rocket League competition, which the Rockford Park District is offering in partnership with GG Leagues, a recreational eSports league based in Chicago.
What the heck is Rocket League you ask?
Rocket League is a high-powered hybrid of arcade-style soccer and vehicular mayhem with easy-to-understand controls and fluid, physics-driven competition.
Based on public participation, there could be more video game leagues coming in the future from the Rockford Park District.
