Summer Fun Is Ending Early For One Illinois Pool
As I sit here wearing a sweatshirt in August, I am bummed to learn that one Rockford pool is closing for the 2022 season early.
Is it because it's stupid cool right now for August? No.
Is it because pool attendance has been low this summer? I don't think so.
Is it because this pool doesn't have enough staff to keep the summer fun going? Ding, Ding, Ding!
Alpine Pool Will Be Closing for the Season This Sunday
It's no secret that the last few years for Alpine Pool have been pretty rocky. First, the decision was made to close the Alpine Pool permanently, then the City of Rockford helped devise a plan to save it. Then the COVID pandemic put the brakes on swimming fun, and now that life is slightly back to normal, staffing shortages are plaguing our country.
Before I show you Rockford Park District's announcement regarding Alpine Pool, let me just say this; I am not blaming them for what happened. Kids are heading back to school, no one wants to work right now, and I know the Rockford Park District has done everything they can to hire enough staff to cover all their facilities this summer.
Now let's get to the bad news...
I know Alpine Pool's 2022 season is only being cut a week short, but in my opinion, it's still frustrating. I feel bad for all the businesses that have to beg, plead, and bribe to get people motivated to work. I REALLY hope this whole staffing shortage mess comes to end soon.
Now let's just keep our fingers crossed the weather warms up so we can all enjoy our final weekend of swimming at Alpine Pool for the 2022 season!
