Assistant Deputy Chief Pat Hoey has been named to position of Interim Chief for the City of Rockford.

WREX-TV reports that the Fire and Police Commission board met this morning and conducted interviews for interim police chief. The meeting was immediately called into closed session.

The board talked with Deputy Chief Dave Hopkins, Assistant Deputy Chief Pat Hoey and Lieutenant Shawn Ross. The three submitted resumes and cover letters to be considered for the job. The other qualification the board had is whoever would be named interim chief could not be the same person who applies for the chief position.

WREX-TV says that members of the commission stressed it's crucial they find the right fit for the job, especially due to the circumstances the city is dealing with.
