Sometimes you see something on social media that absolutely infuriates you, and last night was one of those times for me.

The Rockford Fire Department responded to a playground fire at West View Elementary last night, which is sad in itself, but the fact that the playground was installed about two months ago makes it even sadder to me.

What makes me mad about this incident, is some of the rumors swirling about the cause of the fire. I'm assuming that since Rockford Fire is asking for help finding the responsible party, that the fire has been labeled as arson. The fact that some Rockfordians commented on that post saying they heard about a child seen running from the fire before firefighters arrived, is what makes my blood boil. Obviously, none of the rumors have been confirmed by fire officials, but just the thought that a child could be responsible for it sickens and saddens this mother's heart.

The responsible person needs to be held accountable for their actions. Please, if you have any information about the fire, call Rockford Fire at (779) 348-7172 or Crimestoppers at (888) 769-7867.
