It's always nice to be recognized for a good job even more so when your job puts your own life on the line to help others. The Rockford Fire Department was recognized by a local furniture store for doing just that.

WIFR reports the the Rockford location of the national furniture store The RoomPlace honored the fire department by giving them free furniture as a token to say thank you.

Just "recently, the RoomPlace lost one of their warehouses in the suburbs, but despite the building being a total loss, all 50 employees working on site were saved by the help of emergency responders."

In honor of the rescue the furniture store is donating furniture to fire houses across the state of Illinois to thank for keeping our communities safe.

Wow! I think that's great. These men and women do so much to help keep us safe. The RoomPlace you deserve two big thumbs up for this good deed in recognizing our city's first responders.

At this time the fire department has yet to select their furniture items but they did take look around the store to get an idea of what they might like for the station.

Speaking of good deeds, Q98.5's Sean and Shannon are looking to award a platter of delicious Mary's Market goodies to good deed doers here in the stateline. If you know of someone who's done a good deed recently, maybe to you or to someone else, tell them about the person and share their story by e-mailing Shannon at shannon.zimmerman@townsquaremedia.com.
