Many areas were affected by Thursday's extreme weather, and particularly hard hit were many residents of Rochelle, IL

A number of tornadoes tore a path of destruction through the Rock River Valley. A Rochelle restaurant, Grubsteakers, was destroyed. The Tornadoes caused severe structural damage to many houses and businesses in in the Rochelle area.

The Rockford Register Star reports that Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle said 18 to 20 residences in rural Rochelle, including his own, were destroyed but no one was seriously injured.

A fund has been set up to help those in the Rochelle area.

The Rochelle Area Community Foundation has announced that they are accepting donations for those impacted by Thursday's tornado.

This was one of the scariest moments I've ever had. So glad to hear a lot of people are ok and that it barely missed my place; keep prayers for those who aren't. Never underestimate Mother Nature. It CAN happen here.
