History buffs and patriotic visitors have a unique opportunity this summer as the Rockford Public Library (RPL) is displaying a rare piece of American history.

A Rare Piece of American History Comes Home

The RPL is showcasing a rare 45-star American flag that is believed to have flown over the library's original Carnegie building at 215 North Wyman Street more than 100 years ago.

The historic flag is currently on display on the second floor of the Main Library through July 31 as part of celebrations surrounding Flag Day and America's upcoming 250th anniversary.
