Nearly 80 small dogs were rescued Tuesday after they were found living in neglectful conditions at a breeding facility in Kankakee County. How bad were the conditions and what breeds were included?

Police and Animal Rescue Corps saved puppies after receiving a tip about alleged animal neglect at a home in Kankakee County, which is about one hour south of Chicago.

According to Fox 32 Chicago, the rescued dogs ranged in age from puppies to adults and all the puppies were very small breeds - including Chihuahuas, Shih Tzus, Yorkshire Terriers, and Poodles.

Rescue crews say the puppies were found crowded into small crates with plastic wire flooring and were exposed to extremely high levels of ammonia. Many of the dogs that were found at the property were suffering from untreated eye infections, respiratory conditions, and dental issues.

All of the rescued puppies were taken to an emergency shelter where they will receive a veterinary exam, vaccinations, and medical treatment.

All of the dogs will be available to find their forever home in the next few days. A good deed tip from a resident may have saved a few of the puppies before it was too late.
