Com Ed reports hundreds of crews have restored electric power to 79,000 customers after freezing rain, sleet and wind with gusts up to 60 miles an hour passed through the Stateline and Northern Illinois on Monday. Here's the latest.

According to WREX TV-13, as of 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, Com Ed says there are about 12,000 customers without services with the largest concentration occurring in the south and western regions. Crews are still on the job and working around the clock to restore all power.

Even though a majority will have power restored by Tuesday evening, pockets of outages in the hardest hit areas in Lee, LaSalle and Livingston counties may not be restored until Wednesday.

Welcome to Winter. It is officially here.
