Dixon Police Chief Langloss released this statement:

Officers go their entire career hoping to never use their firearm, but there are some situations where they are left with no choice. This is one of those situations. Today, our police officers showed incredible bravery in the face of danger, and because of their actions, they saved the life of an innocent person. I have asked the Illinois State Police to conduct a thorough, independent investigation of the use of force. All indications from witnesses and video evidence are that the officers acted appropriately and within the law. I am very proud of our police officers and we are glad that the suspect will be ok.
