Although the 4th of July holiday is now passed and the next major holiday, Labor Day, isn't for another 7 weeks. There's still going to be weekend picnics or get togethers at friends and family.

That's what summer is all about being outside and enjoying the weather with good times, good friends and of course good food.

How would you like to take the perfect picnic salad with no worries about how long it can sit out? I made this salad for our family's 4th of July dinner, but it's good anytime of the year. If you like to have just a little spice yet still have the healthy aspect of veggies. Then this is the salad for you.

It's Southwestern Bean Salad, I found through the Taste of Home's website.

All it takes is a can of garbanzo beans, black beans, kidney beans, tomato, celery, onion, salsa, oil, and spices. It's really easy to make. It's refreshingly light and tastes great. The best part is it can sit out longer at the table because it's dressing has a vegetable oil base and spices. (I used Olive Oil)

Also, the longer it marinates the better it tastes as the spices marry into all the veggies.

Here's the link to the recipe, Southwestern Bean Salad, if you'd like to try it.

My family loves it.

Let me know what you think.
