One of Rockford's Busiest Streets Closes for Construction

'Tis the season for orange traffic cones in Rockford, and now one of the city's busiest streets will be under construction through mid-July.

According to WIFR, IDOT is closing the southbound lanes of South Main Street between Montague and Mill for construction beginning on Monday, April 4, 2016. Northbound lanes will remain open, detours will be posted, and the work is expected to be completed by mid-July.

Another street close to the area, Morgan Street, will also soon be closing for intersection improvements just east of South Main.
