Maren Morris Wins Big at 2017 AIMP Nashville Awards

Maren Morris walked away as the night's biggest winner at the second annual Association of Independent Music Publishers Nashville Awards, which took place on May 8 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium,

The singer was named Artist-Writer of the Year and also recognized for her song "Rich," which was honored as AIMP's Publisher's Pick. Morris co-wrote "Rich" with Jessie Jo Dillon and Laura Veltz, and the song appears on the singer's major label debut Hero, released in 2016.

Morris has had a whirlwind of a year. The singer recently accepted the trophy for Best New Female Vocalist at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas and in February, received her first-ever Grammy Award. She won the prize for Best Country Solo Performance for her song “My Church,” beating out “Love Can Go to Hell” by Brandy Clark, “Vice” by Miranda Lambert, “Church Bells” by Carrie Underwood and “Blue Ain’t Your Color” by Keith Urban at the awards show.

“Oh my goodness, this is so crazy,” Morris said onstage after winning the Grammy. “Thank you to the Recording Academy. Eleven years ago, I went to the first ever Grammy camp. It was the first time I ever flew on a plane by myself to L.A. and it’s crazy to be here a decade later. … Thank you guys so much. This is amazing, and the fans, thank you for giving me the most incredible year of my life.”
