Luke Bryan’s duet with Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild finds both singers playing a role neither one’s spouse hopes they’ll take seriously anytime soon. In “Home Alone Tonight,” the vocalists are looking to get revenge.

They're both coming off of a breakup when they meet at the bar. Drinks are poured, shots are tossed, caution is pushed to the gutter. It’s hard to say there’s real heat between the two vocalists, because the story told relies on a sort of forced lusting. Their feelings for each other are not sincere, but the revenge plot is.

“We'll go shot for shot for shot 'til we forgot what we came here to forget / Ain't a clock, a tick, a tock that's gonna stop a night we won't regret / So put your drink down and throw your camera up / Flip it around and snap a payback picture / Send it to my ex, I'll send it to my ex / And send ‘em both a text saying we ain't we ain't going home alone tonight,” Bryan and Fairchild sing, trading lines as they one-up each other’s intentions.

“Slow country from a cover band / I got you covered if you don't know how to dance / But if you want we could grab a cab / Girl we got all night, I've got a bottomless tab,” Bryan sings during the second verse of his third single from the Kill the Lights album.

“Home Alone Tonight” features more progressive production than “Strip It Down,” but isn’t quite as edgy as “Kick the Dust Up.” One would hardly call the arrangement organic, but that fits the mood. The two spontaneous lovers promise they won’t regret what’s to come, even though both know it’s not true. It’s an inevitability that many will relate to.

Why Fans Will Love It: Sonically it fits in within everything Bryan has released recently, but Fairchild's voice allows it to stand out from any love song he's recorded.

Key Lyrics: "So put your drink down and throw your camera up / Flip it around and snap a payback picture / Send it to my ex, I'll send it to my ex / And send ‘em both a text saying we ain't we ain't going home alone tonight."

Did You Know?: Bryan and Fairchild will debut the song at the 2015 American Music Awards on Nov. 22.
