If you're a fan of Nashville, like I am, you may have been surprised last Wednesday when Clare Bowen's character, Scarlett O'Connor, cut her long hair off.

You might have said like I did aloud "She cut here hair off!"

Well here's the reason, a very special reason, why.

Country Outfitters Life interviewed Clare and she said the reason why she did it was " she survived a childhood battle with end stage nephroblastoma and lost all of her hair." Although, her hair grew back the memories of being in the hospital and the images of other kids that were like her with no hair never left her.

Her decision to cut her hair came after hearing  about a little girl "who said she couldn’t be a princess because she didn’t have long hair". Clare said "I wanted her, and others like her to know that’s not what makes a princess, or a warrior, or a superhero. It’s not what makes you beautiful either. It’s your insides that count… even if you happen to be missing half of them.”

Wow! That is really selfless of Clare. I think that really shows the heart of who she is as a person.

Now, knowing the back story, her new pixie cut makes sense.

I wish the article would have told if she donated her hair to one the organizations that make wigs for those that lose their hair during chemotherapy.
