Lowe's has announced it plans to close a total of 51 of it's under performing locations across the United States and Canada. Unfortunately, some of the locations that will close are in Illinois.

In a statement issued on it's website, Lowe's announced that the closures are part of it's plan to:

wind-down of certain underperforming store locations as part of its ongoing strategic reassessment

According to a report from FOX 32, two Illinois Lowe's locations will be be closing:

Lowe’s of Granite City, IL (Store #3028)
1333 Schaefer Rd
Granite City, IL 62040

Lowe’s of Gurnee, IL (Store #1829)
7735 Grand Ave
Gurnee, IL 60031

The closures are expected to take place by Feb 1, 2019.

Lowe's says that employees at the at the affected stores will be:

extended opportunities to transition to a similar role at a nearby Lowe’s store. The majority of impacted stores are located within 10 miles of another Lowe’s store.

No Lowe's stores in the Rockford area are included in the planned closure.
