Illinois Is Getting a Two-Night Halloween Street Party in 2026
If you live in Illinois and your favorite thing about Halloween is all the zombies, monsters, and creepy fun that comes with the holiday, you'll want to check out 'Nightmare on Chicago Street' this October in Elgin.

Favorite Halloween Things
I absolutely LOVE Halloween, but not for the reasons many other people do.
I love pumpkin patches, apple cider, cute spooky decorations, and dressing in costumes, but I am a complete scaredy-cat when it comes to haunted houses, hayrides, and horror movies.

I love reading about creepy, haunted places and watching other people willingly walk into them, but I do not need to experience them for myself. So naturally, when I heard one of Illinois’ biggest Halloween events is getting even bigger in 2026, I had to find out what all the fuss was about... for all of you who aren't scaredy-cats.
Nightmare on Chicago Street
Nightmare on Chicago Street in Elgin isn't a haunted house. It's a huge haunted street event featuring music, food, street performers, themed zones that put you in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, and so much more, AND the whole experience is expanding for 2026.
Friday night, October 16, will be Nightmare on Chicago Street: The Arrival, which is a new concert-focused experience featuring performances from Gym Class Heroes, Plain White T's and The Ataris.
Saturday night, October 17 is when downtown Elgin gets really weird.
Eight blocks of downtown Elgin will transform into a completely immersive post-apocalyptic world.
We're talking themed zones, live entertainment, specialty performers, food and drinks, and Nightmare Alley, the event's signature haunted attraction.
Basically, the entire event is what it would feel like if a zombie apocalypse and a giant street party decided to get together and make questionable decisions... and that's awesome!
Nightmare on Chicago Street Tickets
Now that you have October 16 and 17 blocked off on your calendar, here's one more important thing you need to know about Nightmare on Chicago Street: If you want to go BOTH nights, Friday and Saturday tickets are sold separately.
Go to nightmareonchicagostreet.com to buy tickets, see the entertainment lineup, and find everything else you need to know before you go.
