Don't think it's important to microchip your dog or cat? You might change your mind after reading this. (BTW, you should most definitely chip your pet even if they're not an "outdoor" animal.)

A family in Algonquin lost their beloved Siberian Husky escaped after he escaped his yard, leaving the family to start a long search. The family searched the area, put up flyers, went to local radio stations, even used a drone as a searching tool but, sadly, there was no sign of Kody. In fact, two years later there were still no signs of the husky. Thankfully, because of a very important thing, Kody would return home.

WIFR reports a Rockford resident found Kody roaming the streets and took him to Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary where it was discovered he was microchipped and staff was able to connect with his owners. They arrived to take their baby home the same day. As you can imagine Kody's adventure remains a mystery. Kody didn't return 100% but seems to be doing a little better since his 2- year trip and multiple visits to veterinarians in Rockford and Algonquin.

Kody's story and how he's doing are being shared on his Facebook page.
