Growing up, my sisters were in so many musicals throughout school and my mom loved taking us to see Broadway shows in Chicago.  Now, I find myself seeing more shows in Rockford as of late.

From The West Side Show Room, to Rock Valley College's Starlight Theater, to local high school shows, there are so many performances to choose from starting this weekend!  If you're looking for some entertainment, check these out!

The West Side Show Room - 1414 N Main Street, Rockford

Starting Friday, February 17th - March 4th, WSSR is kicking off 'HIR', a play by Taylor Mac.  This is their first show with a role written for a transgender character, love that! Tickets here.

RVC's Starlight Theater - 3301 N Mulford Rd, Rockford

I already saw the show, but I'd LOVE to see it again! The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is showing at Starlight February 17th - 19th & 24th - 26th. Tickets here.

"Raucous, irreverent, and Shakespearean in scope, David Mortensen, Kevin Poole, and Ian Garthwaite will blast through the 37 Shakespeare plays, summing them all up in the most concise and hilarious manner that can be mustered!" [Starlight]

 

Belvidere High School Performing Arts - 1500 East Ave, Belvidere

'Almost, Maine' opens Friday, February 17th and there will be two shows on Saturday, February 18th at 2pm and 7pm.  Tickets available at the door.
