
Dangerous Tornado Threat for Illinois, Parts of Wisconsin Under Winter Storm Warning
Residents of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa should brace for severe weather over the next few days, with everything from snow to tornadoes in the forecast.
Tornado Threat Looms Over Illinois and Iowa
According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, showers are expected to begin early Wednesday morning (4/2), with a chance of thunderstorms for Chicagoland and the Rockford region.
Between 1 and 4 pm is when strong to severe thunderstorms are likely Wednesday afternoon, with a potential for damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes, according to the NWS.
Winter Storm Warnings Issued for Wisconsin
Weather just to the north of where severe thunderstorms are expected in Illinois, a wintry mix is possible, with some parts of Wisconsin under a Winter Storm Warning.

According to WisPolitics, the Governor of Wisconsin has declared a State of Emergency for the severe winter weather in northern Wisconsin.

Heavy snowfall, gusty winds, and ice are possible during this storm, which could cause power outages, according to the National Weather Service.
For southern parts of Wisconsin, a wintry mix is possible tonight (Tuesday), then a chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday, but north of the Wisconsin Dells, there is still snow and sleet possible through midday on Wednesday.
Current Extended Forecast for the Rockford Region
According to the Weather Channel, the Rockford area will see strong thunderstorms during the day on Wednesday, with strong winds, large hail, and possibly a tornado with this storm.
High temperatures are expected to be near 70 on Wednesday, but on Thursday (4/2), they will cool back to the lower 50s, according to the National Weather Service.
