Illinois Dollar Tree Locations Will See Price Increase Again In 2024

Illinois shoppers will soon have to whip out a few extra dollars when shopping at Dollar Tree stores after the company announced another price hike in 2024.

If you haven't been in a Dollar Tree store recently, you might not know about their "greater value" aisles.  Remember when every item used to be $1.00 plus tax?  In 2023, $1.25 became the minimum for a single item in the store and nothing higher than $5.00.  According to the company, prices will continue to rise this year.

There are "More Choices" now so shoppers can find a variety of new items that range anywhere from $1.50 to $7.00, like home goods, room essentials, apparel, health & beauty products, gifts and toys, and so much more.

On Dollar Tree's website, they share more on the "Beyond" products,

"Our expanded range gives us the ability to offer you more choices, providing a larger variety of quality items at great value. Including our existing $3 and $5 items, you can explore new hidden treasures for every day, season, and occasion—from pet supplies to snacks from brands you love." [Dollar Tree]

Surprisingly, this news comes soon after Dollar Tree announced thousands of store closures around the country, including in Illinois.

Rick Dreiling, CEO of Dollar Tree, said that over time shoppers will start seeing an integration of merchandise of all different prices; $5 bags of dog food, $1.25 pets treats and toys, and $3 bags of candy.

With how high the inflation rate is these days, it's not a surprise to see an increase to outweigh the cost of goods.
