Doing a shot of tequila might take you back to college while enjoying a margarita might conjure up a spring break trip you once took to Mexico. But which way does Minnesota most like to drink tequila?

In honor of National Margarita Day, which is February 22nd, a new survey was just released that looks at each state's favorite way to consume that classic alcoholic beverage. Tequila is a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant, which grows primarily in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, which is northwest of Guadalajara in Mexico.

And while tequila is a popular beverage in certain parts of the country, here in the North Star State, we're kinda lukewarm about it. On this Zippia list of the most tequila-loving states, Minnesota comes exactly in the middle, ranked 25th. (Strangely, New Hampshire was the state that loved tequila the most, while Utah was the least-loving tequila state.)

There are many different ways you can consume tequila, but the two most popular ways to drink it are straight (in a shot) or mixed in a cocktail. And can you guess which way we prefer to take our tequila here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes?

According to this FashionNova survey of over 3,000 drinkers, Minnesotans prefer drinking tequila mixed in a cocktail, as do most states:

The overwhelming majority—38 states, to be precise, including Minnesota—prefer to sip their tequila in a cocktail. We're talking margaritas, tequila sunrises, and everything in between. Only six states preferred to kick back their tequila in a shot.

When it comes to just which kind or brand of tequila Minnesota prefers, we're one of 33 states that said Patron was our favorite kind, according to the FashionNova survey. Only 11 states surveyed said Jose Cuervo was their favorite.

In case you noticed those totals only added up to 44 out of the 50 states, the survey said Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming were 'left out of our findings due to a limited number of respondents from those states.'
