Families across Winnebago County will come together with law enforcement for National Night Out on Tuesday (8/5), a nationwide initiative that strengthens community relationships with local police and sheriff's departments.

Two Locations, One Mission: Safer, Stronger Neighborhoods

Two big events will take place in Winnebago County on Tuesday for National Night Out, one in Rockford and the other in Loves Park.

According to a press release from the Rockford Police, they will have activities for families at the City Market Pavilion from 5 to 8 pm, while the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office will be at Harlem High School from 5 to 7 pm.

Rockford Police Brings the Fun Downtown

At Rockford's City Market in Downtown, there will be activities and entertainment, including a 360 photo booth, free food, RPD K-9 demonstration, and a mini train ride for kids.

Local organizations and vendors will be on-site during the event, offering resources, giveaways, and an opportunity to connect with local officers and deputies in a relaxed and festive environment.

Machesney Park Hosting Sheriff's Office Celebration

The Harlem High School campus will host the National Night Out event with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office and Loves Park Police.

Another free event will be packed with fun like K-9 unit demonstrations, fire and police vehicles, free hot dogs and cookies, music, games, and kid-friendly activities.

Community groups and organizations will be at the event to share their resources and programs.

The National Night Out event is about fun, but it's also about building trust and working together to prevent crime and strengthen our communities and neighborhoods.
