Forest Hills Lanes Suddenly Closes In Loves Park

After 50 years in business, Forest Hills Lanes in Loves Park made an announcement today that few people never saw coming.

When Forest Hills Diamonds announced they were permanently closing back in February 2026, I couldn't help but feel like another shoe would be dropping soon.

Turns out, I was right, and it gives me no pleasure to say that.

A message posted this morning (7/29/26) on Forest Hills Lanes' Facebook said:

After many years of serving our community, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close Forest Hills Lanes & Shooters North inside the bar effective today.

WHAT?!

We get no warning? No chance to say goodbye? No last round of bowling at Forest Hills Lanes or drinks at Shooters North?

Sadly, no, but there is a little light in this sad announcement:

Our Volleyball / Tiki Bar outside area will remain open through the end of the summer volleyball season.

I searched for Forest Hills Lanes' summer volleyball schedule for 2026, and it looks like the season wraps up during the week of August 30, so we only have a month to enjoy it.

Why Is Forest Hills Lanes Closing?

If you're anything like me, you probably want to know why Forest Hills Lanes is closing, hoping it might soften the blow a little, but they didn't give one.

Instead, the announcement said this:

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years. Thank you to our loyal customers, league bowlers, dedicated employees, and the entire community for making Forest Hills Lanes such a special place.
It has been a privilege to be part of so many celebrations, friendships, and lasting memories. We will always cherish the relationships we’ve built and the time we’ve shared together.

We will miss you, Forest Hills Lanes! Thank you for being the setting of so many fun memories and celebrations for residents all over the Rockford area.
