It's been over a decade and I still call Chicago's tallest building 'Sears Tower.' In fact, many Chicagoans and people familiar with the tower are the same way. This may soon be the same story for another well-known building in the Windy City.

The Hancock (a.k.a. Hancock Building, a.k.a. Hancock Tower, a.k.a. John Hancock Center) is for sale, which means there's potential for great change in Chicago. Some changes have already taken place the Hancock, including the tilted window observatory. But another change could become the new "why'd they have to do that" topic of conversation. The answer to that question would be... money.

John Hancock Center is currently for sale at a whopping $330 million. The price tag includes office space, some of the parking, and naming rights. So not all of the tower is for sale per say, according to Chicago Tribune.

Other parts of the 1,128-foot-tall building — including retail and restaurant space, residential condominiums, the 360 Chicago observatory and broadcast antennas atop the tower — all have separate owners.

There's no word on potential buyers or when a name-change could happen but the Trib says it would be the biggest naming-rights deal in Chicago history.

It would be the highest-profile renaming of a Chicago skyscraper since the controversial deal to change the city’s tallest building from Sears Tower to Willis Tower in 2009.
