Illinois Teens’ Posted Threats To High School Were A Dare

An Illinois teen says the threats he posted against his high school were just a dare.

Well, dare or not he's in a lot of hot water with the police.

According to WGN he was arrested and charged with a felony "for making threats against Homewood-Flossmoor High School Saturday morning."

The Flossmoor Police were alerted on Saturday after Instagram posts were made that "tagged both the high school and Board of Education" that "photographs of a semi-automatic rifle and contained profanity-laced threats, including one which read "for those who think this s** is a joke, just wait till Monday." (ABC7)

The 16-year-old told, "investigators that his social media post was the result of a dare and that he did not have access to any guns."

According to police, this threat was part of a "copycat threat circulating on social media Sunday morning" and found, after "[working] with the FBI" that "it originated on the East Coast."

Although the authorities felt that there was no danger today, they increased "increase their presence at the school as a preventative measure."

Why would a teen think making threat like this was cool to do?

He's definitely finding out how costly doing this dare was as he now will have a "Class 4" felony on his record for life, and I'm sure a lot of court costs along with a lot of time spent there for making this "dare."
