A weather system battering the Rocky Mountain states out West with snow and sparking dangerous thunderstorms in Texas and Oklahoma will make its way into Illinois this weekend.

Saturday Brings Spring-Like Warmth

According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service for the Chicagoland area and the Rockford region, it will start feeling like Spring on Saturday (3/29).

The high is expected to be around 70, with a 40 percent chance of rain mainly after 3 pm.

Late Saturday night and into the early morning hours of Sunday (3/30), Showers are likely with a 90 percent chance of rain and possibly thunderstorms, with a high in the upper 60s.

Snow Possible for Monday Morning Commute

Sunday night rain is expected mainly before 4 am because temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing, giving us some snow accumulations overnight Sunday and into the morning commute Monday (3/31).

Snow showers are possible on Monday morning, mainly before 7 a.m. While significant accumulation is not expected, the high temperature is expected to be in the mid-40s.

Rain Sticks Around for Days

Current forecast from the National Weather Service predicts a chance of rain for 4 straight days beginning Tuesday, April 1. And this is not an April Fools' Joke.
