The Home Repair and Accessibility Program (HRAP) supports approximately 400 homeowners across 28 counties, including northern Illinois communities such as Loves Park and Machesney Park, which each received a $400,000 grant award.

Homeowners Can Receive Up to $50,000 in Assistance

Eligible Illinois homeowners can receive up to $50,000 for essential home repairs that address health, safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency needs.

These funds can be used to address major issues, such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or structural problems, as well as accessibility modifications for individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges.

A "roof-only" repair option is also available for homes without other major deficiencies, according to the press release.

Program Targets Affordability and Accessibility

Governor JB Pritzker emphasized the importance of maintaining safe and accessible homes for working families, noting that "homes are full of memories, they're generational gathering spaces and places for community."
