Illinois Firefighter Loses His Life After Collapse in House Fire
I've always had a great respect for firefighters. My father was a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years. Our whole life we're told to stay away from fire but a firefighters instinct is to run right to it. These brave men and women put their lives on the line everyday to save lives. But sometimes, it just work doesn't work out the way they planned.
According to WREX.com, in Bethalto Illinois, A fire captain lost his life after a partial collapse in a Illinois home. Jacob Ringering, a Captain and Technical Rescue Officer for the Godfrey Fire Protection Department suffered some serious injuries after a collapse in a home fire they were fighting. Three other firefighters were injured in the blaze. Jacob was taken to the hospital where he passed away. One of the other firefighters is in stable condition and the other 2 were treated and released. A few different departments were fighting the fire for about an hour before the accident.
It's definitely a sad day when we lose the real superhero's. Firefighters, police officers and paramedics will always the real hero's in my book. If you see a first responder in the next week, thank them for their service. After all they weren't drafted. They signed up for this and everyday they do their best to make the world a better place and try to keep us safe.
