Do you celebrate St. Patty's the old fashioned way with traditional Irish food and a pint of Guinness?

Or maybe you fancy the simpler things, like a green beer from your favorite neighborhood pub.

But now with everyone freaking out about contracting the coronavirus, some may be more inclined to stay at home this year.

Can you still get a green beer at home? Of course, you can!

It's all in the name green beer, to put it simply, it's dyed beer.

So if you have this green food coloring, then you too can serve green beer at your home this St. Patty's Day.

How to make green beer:

  • Take your green food dye and add two drops per bottle of light-colored beer (any brand is fine).
  • If you want a darker hue, add a couple of extra drops to the beer. A max of four to six is best.
  • Just remember the more food dye you add the bigger the chance of it dying your mouth green. Also, too much dye runs the risk of making your beer bitter and chemically tasting.

For those of you who want a more natural way of coloring your beer, here's a list of options too:

  • Wheatgrass - Add one tablespoon of wheatgrass juice to the bottom of the glass before pouring in the light beer. Continue pouring in wheatgrass juice until it reaches the desired color.
  • Spinach - If you have a juicer use it to extract the color from a bunch of spinach. Then add one tablespoon to the bottom of the glass and add your beer.
  • Spirulina -Put 1/2 teaspoon of spirulina powder into a bowl and add beer little by little. Whisk the mixture until the powder is completely dissolved.
  • Matcha - Add 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a bowl and add beer little by little. Whisk the mixture until the powder is completely dissolved.
  • All-Natural Food Dyes - Place 3 drops at the bottom of your glass, then add your beer. It's important to note that these natural dyes aren't as vibrant, so you may need to add a few more drops than you would.
