Hawks To Honor Legend At Last Home Game Of Season

The Chicago Blackhawks season has been a major disappointment, but they are going to end it on a high note.

Before the last home game, the Chicago Blackhawks will be featuring a team legend.

"Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Stan Mikita will be honored with "One More Shift" on Friday, April 6, prior to the Blackhawks game against the St. Louis Blues at 7:30 p.m. at the United Center."

"One More Shift" is a program the team started during the 2016-2017 season. It gives the fans one last chance to recognize their favorite players by having them skate one last time on the ice.

Other Hawks that have participated in the campaign are Bryan Bickell, Troy Murray, Al Second, Eric Daze, Denis Savard, Jeremy Roenick, Ed Belfour, and Steve Larmer.

I was at the game when they featured Roenick. It's a very cool event.

Unfortunately, Stan Mikita won't be able to skate himself, so his grandsons Charlie, Billy, and Tommy will do the honor for him.

Mikita has many highlights with the team including being named a Blackhawks Ambassador in 2008, having his number 21 the first retired by the team, a member of the 1961 Stanley Cup Champions, inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983, and many others.

This ceremony will at least make the game watchable.
