In the race to open a casino in Rockford, there seems to be a fight over location. The Hard Rock Casino Group wants to open one in the former home of the Clock Tower Resort, and Gorman & Company is creating a proposal to build a riverfront casino in downtown Rockford.

I think the decision is really going to come down to who is going to provide the biggest benefit to Rockford, and that is something the Hard Rock Casino Group is hoping to clarify at the Information Center they are opening in Downtown Rockford today.

According to The Rock River Times;

The group of investors that wants to build a casino on the far-east side will host a grand opening of the Hard Rock Casino Rockford Information Center Thursday at 308 W. State St.

The center will be on the corner of West State and South Main streets, in the space most recently occupied by Capital House restaurant, which closed three weeks ago.

The event, also a Rockford Day celebration, begins at 1 p.m., and includes appearances by Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, an investor in the potential project, and his family.

Attendees to the Grand Opening Celebration today will be able to take pictures with Rick Nielsen and scoop up some free merch and Hard Rock Casino Rockford t-shirts while supplies last.
