Hate to say it....after a four month absence, snow has snuck back into the forecast this weekend.

Granted, it's only a small chance, but just uttering that word "SNOW" give people the shivers after the winter we suffered through last year.

The national weather service said that the snow will happen around Rockford this weekend.

The National Weather Service says:

In Rockford, there could be rain and snow showers late Friday night into Saturday morning. "Quite remarkable to even have that chance (of snow) this far south for the first weekend of October

The earliest trace of snow on record for the Rockford area is Oct. 3 in 1951. If that happens tonight, we could tie a record Friday night.

Don't break out the shovels, yet!
