Rockford Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of 18-Year-Old on Locust Street
A teenager from Rockford died after being shot on Friday night (October 3) just north of downtown.
Teen Dies After Friday Night Shooting in Rockford
An 18-year-old man has died following a shooting late Friday night, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office press release.

The victim has been identified as William Ellis, who was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Emergency Response and Investigation
According to the report, Rockford Police and Rockford Fire Department personnel responded around 9:40 pm on October 3 to the 500 block of Locust Street for reports of a shooting.
Ellis was found at the scene suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, and emergency responders began life-saving measures before he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:23 pm.
An autopsy later confirmed that Ellis died from a gunshot wound.
Police Continue to Search for Answers
The Rockford Police Department and Winnebago County Coroner's Office are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ellis' death.
Officials have not released details regarding possible suspects or motives as of Monday (10/6).
Law enforcement is asking anyone with information related to the shooting to contact Rockford Police or submit an anonymous tip through Rockford Area Crime Stoppers.
