There was a massive egg recall this weekend because of a salmonella outbreak on the east coast. A farm in North Carolina is the center of the 200 million egg dilemma linked to nine states and sold at major department stores and restaurants. The recall affects the Great Value brand sold at Walmart.

According to New York Times,

The egg cartons affected by the recall should be labeled with the plant number P-1065, with packing dates ranging from 011 through 102. (That is according to the Julian number system that many egg companies use to record packing dates. It means Jan. 11 through April 12.)

The good news (for Illinois and Wisconsin) is the egg recalls do not involve both states. However, if you have family in the following states you may want to make them aware of the recall.

  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Carolina
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
