A longtime Rockford hotel is closing its door after the weekend.

WTVO TV has learned that the Clock Tower Resort will be closing for the winter.

The resort has had its troubles lately, including a shooting that took place last month that left one person dead and injuring two others.

Last year, the Coco Key Indoor Water Park was closed due to health reasons. According to the website, the water park is closed for maintenance.

As a new resident of the area, the Clock Tower was the one place in Rockford that everyone talked about. Now, it is unclear if the resort will open back up anytime soon. Another report by WIFR TV says that Clock Tower hopes to open up next spring.

There is no word if the recent investigation and inspection by the City of Rockford has anything to do with the closing.

The hotel opened up in 1968 and according to rrstar.com, joined the Best Western hotel chain. That relationship ended in 2013.
