Carrie Underwood is the proud mother of a 3-year-old son, but she and husband Mike Fisher may not ever need a minivan.

In a new interview with Redbook, the country star, 35, acknowledges that having multiple children isn't in the cards for their family — at least biologically. "I'm 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family," Underwood says.

The "Cry Pretty" singer married Fisher, a professional hockey player, eight years ago. They welcomed Isaiah Michael Fisher in 2015, and since then have discussed having more children, including the possibility of adoption.

"We always talk about adoption and about doing it when our child or children are a little older. In the meantime, we're lucky to be a part of organizations that help kids, because our focus right now in our lives is helping as many kids as possible."

There's Real-Life Drama on Carrie's New Album!

Underwood and Fisher have in the past worked with Danita's Children, an organization with a mission to rescue, love, and care for orphans and impoverished children in Haiti. The couple has visited the country and also hosted a benefit dinner for the organization in Nashville last year.

Danita's Children provides 16,000 meals each month as well as educates over 300 children and provides a home to over 80 children who have been abandoned.

Underwood says she wouldn't change a thing about how her life has played out since winning American Idol in 2005. In fact, if she could go back and give herself some sage advice for the journey ahead she doesn't think she would.

"I don't know if I'd tell her much of anything, because I would want everything to turn out exactly how it has. Every lesson that I've learned was an important one and led me to where I am — and I like where I am now," she concedes.

Underwood's new album, Cry Pretty, will be released Sept. 14. It features the single "Cry Pretty."
