A 25-year-old Breeanna Watt of Belvidere was sentenced to 6 years in prison for causing unfathomable injuries to an infant.

Belvidere Police responded to a call by Rockford Memorial Hospital in September 2015 for in relation to suspected child abuse. According to MyStateline.com, a 9-week-old infant had multiple subdural hemorrhages, with the injury being only a few days old. The baby also had a healing fractured rib. The woman was subsequently interviewed by police and admitted to being responsible for the injuries. No details of how the injuries happened were given.

Watt pleaded guilty on February 22, 2019, and has been sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Correction.

After the news of the charges first became public, the child's grandmother created a campaign to raise money for the child's needs.
