On Tuesday at least two instances of vandalism were discovered in Belvidere.

One was found on a vehicle on Pearl St., the other on the outside of Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere.

The vandalism wasn't just meaningless graffiti. It was ignorant, hateful, racial slurs.

This type of vandalism infuriates me so much in fact, I am not even going to validate the "artist" by showing a picture of it. If you want to see it, click here.

There are so many things I would like to say to the party responsible for this, but I'm not going to. A lot of swear words and hateful talk would come out of my mouth, and I just don't want to sink as low as the person that did this.

What I do love about this story though, is the reaction of Zion Lutheran Church's Pastor Scott Stolberg. He recently told WIFR;

There's somebody that's hurting out there. Somebody that has some anger and hate built up inside and they needed to express that somehow and it came out in the worst possible way. So, my hope is that people will pray for this person.

Pastor Stolberg, although my head tells me the responsible party does not deserve my prayers, thank you for making my heart realize this type of person is one that is in most need of prayer.

If you have any information about this incident, pleasecall Boone County Crimestoppers at 815-547-7867.
