Babies of Illinois’ Summerfield Zoo Are Ready to Meet Your Babies

A trip to the zoo to see the animals is always a highlight to my family's summer. This year, Belvidere's Summerfield Zoo has many baby animals you need to see.

A recent Steve Shannon Show visit with Summerfield Zoo's, Rick Anderson, revealed something pretty exciting for the 2021 summer season.

Baby Animals Everywhere

You know that friend that always comes to visit you and never forgets to bring a little gift of some sort, Rick is one of those friends. The difference with his gifts, is that they involve a wonderful close encounter with an adorable little creature.

Rick's most recent visit was no different, other than it was the smallest baby animal he's ever brought with him.

Meet 'Poppy', the Arctic Fox

Poppy is only 6-weeks-old and is still being bottle-fed. She'll only get to about half the size of the typical red fox we see in the wild around northern Illinois.

Arctic Fox Fun Fact

Most of Poppy's adult size will be her thick fur coat that keeps her warm in temperatures lower than 100-degrees below zero.
