On Saturday, January 25, 2025 a terrifying siren alert went off in Winnebago County Wisconsin, and now residents are demanding answers.

Everyone has sounds they absolutely hate. For me it's loud chewing sounds, slurping, and high pitched noises/screams. Most counties throughout the United States hold monthly tests of their emergency alert sirens, and although I'm not a huge fan of hearing the tornado siren tests, I sure am glad they do it.

Emergency Siren Leads to Panic in Wisconsin

Today while scrolling through the Strange Wisconsin Facebook group I saw someone share a post with the comment; "If you didn't knowMany of us in Oshkosh collectively (poop emoji) our pants yesterday".

So, what terrible thing happened near Oshkosh, Wisconsin over the weekend to cause a mass pooping situation? An "attack" siren warning that sounded something like this...

HOLY CRAP! (Pun intended)

I think it's safe to say that most of us, (definitely myself included), would freak out if their weekend enjoyment was ruined by an emergency alert like that. Thankfully, the "emergency" situation wasn't as bad as it sounded.

My life might not have effected by the "false activation" that took place in  Wisconsin, but imany people who did experience it are not happy with the explanation given by Winnebago County Emergency Management.

One resident commented;

Yesterday was honestly scary there for a little while because everyone knew what that siren pattern means and yet the city was met with silence from our officials. Citizens had to contact dispatch to ask them what was going on. And truly everyone had the same thoughts: “are we safe?” I’ve never heard of nor been a part of a practice for any other type of “warning” system we have.

Another one said;

 I have lived in Winnebago County since 1962 and I am not aware of any other alert system in the event of an albeit unlikely attack by a foreign enemy...please tell us what to do.

Have you heard any other emergency siren other than a tornado siren where you live? I haven't, and now I'm need to find out why.
