Soon, you'll be able to add another Florida destination to the list of places you can travel to out of Rockford.

Allegiant’s Latest Route Announcement

Allegiant announced yesterday a slew of new locations they will be flying to across the United States, but the one that mattered most to us in Rockford was the one where they mentioned this nugget:

The new routes between Fort Lauderdale, Florida via Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and the following cities include...Chicago, Illinois via Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) beginning February 12, 2026 with one-way fares as low as $69.

Allegiant's Pricing Compared to Major Airlines

While some might be put out by the "you better hurry up and buy tickets now" approach, it's not a big thing. If you fly Allegiant, you should already know you're getting a decent deal compared to the major carriers like United and American, so the price will be a bit cheaper regardless of when you purchase your tickets. If it's your first time working with them, know that it's a different experience than the big names.

Why Rockford Airport Keeps Getting Better

To me though, above all else, the best part is having the extra option at the Rockford Airport. I have flown out of O'Hare a multitude of times in my life, and I love the ease of access here in town. There are now 11 total destinations on the board out of Rockford. The addition of Fort Lauderdale also makes it the 7th Florida stop out of Rockford, which is great for people in the Rockford area with winter homes there.

If you could pick the next stop for Allegiant to add from Rockford, what would it be? Tell us.
