A Wisconsin native with big talent and personality scored a Golden Ticket during the Season 24 premiere of American Idol on Monday night, and now we have to help her go all the way!

Big Hollywood Dreams

I think all of us at some point in our lives have dreamed of being a famous movie star or singer, but only a few of us are brave enough to do what it takes to make those big dreams come true.

Meet Genevieve Heyward, a 26-year-old from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin who is turning heads on this season of American Idol:

Genevieve was born and raised in Lake Geneva, but after she graduated from Badger High School in 2017, her family moved to Door County where she got highly involved in the local music scene.

Genevieve is an indie-rock singer and songwriter who has wanted to audition for American Idol since she was around 6 years old, but didn't feel ready to take the plunge until now.

Genevieve told the Oshkosh Northwestern:

To do these shows, I think it’s important to have a strong sense of who you are, and I feel like I’m kind of finally at that point in my life, where I know who Genevieve Heyward is. I know what I want to look like, sound like, dress like, all that stuff, and so I thought why not?”

During American Idol's season premiere, Genevieve Heyward wowed the judges (especially Carrie Underwood) with her love of pickles and a soulful performance of Heart's "Magic Man".

Genevieve still has a long way to go in the Idol audition process, so let's all keep our fingers crossed she makes it through Hollywood Week which begins on Monday, February 23, 2026 on ABC!

Good luck, Genevieve Howard, keep making the Midwest proud!
