A promise is a promise. But some people are better at keeping promises than others. Tom Cook from Menomonie, WI proved he is REALLY good at keeping promises.

Tom Cook and his friend Joseph Feeney shook hands all the way back in 1992 and promised that if either one of them ever won the Powerball jackpot, they would split the money. A promise that at the two of them thought would never be anything more than a promise.

But all that changed when Tom Cook bought the winning ticket for a $22 million jackpot at Synergy Coop in Menomonie. WTVO details -

When Cook called to give his friend the good news, Feeney couldn’t quite believe it.

“He called me, and I said, ‘are you jerking my bobber?’” said Feeney, an avid fisherman.

Cook did exactly what I would've done, he retired after hitting the jackpot while his friend was already retired. And just in case you were curious what the odds of this bet coming true were, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in about 292 million.

I think today is the day we should all call up a bestie and make this bet, you know, just in case.
